Sue Ellen Whitley, age 64, died unexpectedly at her home in Smithfield, NC on Saturday May 9th, 2020. Sue was born on January 23rd, 1956 in Smithfield, NC to the late James and Ora Stanley. She was the youngest of five siblings, and is survived by Joyce Austin, Robert Earl Stanley, Ricky Stanley, and the late Larry Stanley.
Sue married her high school sweetheart Dewey Adrian Whitley on June 24th, 1975 and made a home with three children that they devoted their lives to. Wesley Whitley, his wife Dianne and their sons Rafe and Riley, Jeffrey Whitley, his wife Daniella and their children Charles Braglin and Sydni Whitley, and Brandy Walker, her husband Derek and their children Taylor, Landon, and Kayleigh.
Sue devoted her life to being a homemaker and “Nanny” to the grandkids in her family. Sacrificing whatever was asked to ensure the success, happiness and safety of her family. Sue cherished spending time with her family and friends. She had a huge heart and would help anyone, touching many lives with her generosity and passion for life. She will be dearly missed by us all.
