Tomegue Nickell Lassiter (Meeka) was born January 11, 1973, in Johnson County to the late Alice Lassiter Stokes and Isaiah Dawes. Meeka transitioned from earth to heaven on Friday, June 18, 2021, in Smithfield at UNC Johnston Health.
Meeka attended Smithfield Selma High School in Smithfield, NC (C/O 1991) She worked in the home health field until her health declined. Meeka was preceded in death by both her parents and her sister Alesha Lassiter.
Meeka loved her family and friends dearly and unconditionally. Meeka would say her mission was helping people in the community. Her passion and love for people were demonstrated in helping, cooking, and doing whatever she could for family, friends & people of the community.
Meeka leaves to cherish her memory, a husband; Terry Creech (Flattop), one daughter; Tahpraisza Jordan, one granddaughter; Bailey Gainer; one grandson K’zaier Leak; one stepdaughter; Lakisha Leak, One Godchild; Brittany Toler, one sister; one brother; Christopher Lassiter; a loving and devoted friend Tahmel Jordan (Letecia); and five nieces Christine Lassiter, Keisha Lassiter, Violet Lassiter, Kayla Lassiter, Alesha Lassiter; one nephew Emmanuel Lassiter; six aunts, Doris Smith of Brooklyn, NY, Tylee Jones of Washington, DC, Minnie Ruth Teka of Denver, CO Mary Ray of Smithfield, NC, Doris Prince (James) of Selma, NC, Sherry Dawes of Micro, NC; four uncles, Jesse Evans of Philadelphia, PA, Charles Dawes of Clayton, NC, Samuel Dawes (Teresa) of Durham, NC, James Dawes (Judy) Waynesboro, NC and a host of family members and friends that loved her greatly.
