Benson, NC: Mrs. Verna Mae A. “Short” Adams, age 91, of Adams Road died Thursday at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh. Funeral Service will be 2:00 PM Sunday at Stones Creek Advent Christian Church in Benson. Officiating will be Revs. Scott Johnson, Doug Abel and Dr. Zane Lapinskes. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Adams was born April 30, 1926 in Johnston County to the late Vine Hawkins and Lillie Parker Adams. She was also preceded in death by her husband, William Pinkney Adams, sister, Matha Adams Pope, sister-in-law, Eloise Adams and brother-in-law, Woodrow Adams. Mrs. Adams was a homemaker. She was also a faithful member of Stones Creek Advent Christian Church where she served in many capacities.
Surviving include sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Becky Adams and Gary and Tammy Adams; daughters and son-in-law, Teresa A. Barefoot and Beth A. and Timmy Barefoot all of Benson; grandchildren, Kristy Miller and husband, Chris, April Strickland and husband, Ashley, Matthew Adams, Justin Barefoot and wife, Tracy, Blake Adams and wife, Tiffany, Emily Holloman and husband, Will, Lisha Sholar and husband, Evan, Tyler Adams and wife, Sarah, and Cory Adams; great grandchildren, Adam Miller, Ava Strickland, Blake Adams, Jr., Aubrey Miller, Hamilton Adams, Emsley Holloman, Allen Strickland, Luke Barefoot, Mariannah Adams, John William Adams and Brynn Barefoot; sister, Malissa Adams and brother, John Q. Adams; many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM Saturday at Stones Creek Advent Christian Church, 343 Woods Crossroads Road, Benson, NC 27504 and other times at the home of Gary and Tammy Adams, 1075 Adams Road, Benson, NC.
