Mrs. Virginia (Rose) Cole 81, of Selma passed away May 24, 2021 at Rex Rehab and Nursing Care Center in Raleigh. She was born January 30, 1940 to Percy Lee Brown and Lessie Rubye Brown. Rose was married to Lynn Rawleigh Cole until his death in 1998. Rose has gone to be with her husband, Lynn who she has greatly missed, her parents and three brothers and two sisters.
Rose was a loving mother of four children, a grandmother of nine and a great grandmother of three. She enjoyed Christmas and other family gatherings where she was the life of the party and loved decorating and cooking for these family get togethers. She often dressed as characters to entertain her grandchildren such as Santa and the Easter Bunny. Rose will also be remembered for her famous “Treasure Hunts”.
Rose is survived by daughters, Natalie Thompson and husband Greg of Aiken, SC, Christy Horne and husband Mark of Stedman, NC, and sons, Robert Cole and wife Rebecca of Lyman, SC and Jamie Cole and wife Tina of Stevens Point, WI as well as her nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two loving sisters, Barbara Nell Brown Lewis of Wilson, NC and Gloria Brown Johnson of Middlesex, NC and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to express our sincere thanks to Rex Rehab and Nursing Care Center of Raleigh for the kindness and care shown to our mother during her prolonged stay and especially nurse, Kathy Revels and Mom’s favorite roommate, Mrs. M. Pryor who did her best to keep Mama talking and entertained.
A private memorial will be held with family at a later date. Arrangements are entrusted to Parrish Funeral Home, 1351 S. Pollock Street in Selma, NC.
