Benson: Mr. Waylon B. Wood, age 84, of 6510 NC HWY 96 S. died Tuesday at his residence. Funeral Service will be 11:00 AM Friday at Stones Creek Advent Christian Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Dr. Larry Withrow and Rev. Doug Abel will officiate.
Mr. Wood was born September 14, 1932 in Johnston County to the late Worth E. and Vonnie Allen Wood. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Linda Wood Medlin and a brother, Delmon Wood. Mr. Wood was a farmer and also a US Army Veteran. He was a member of Stones Creek Advent Christian Church where he served as a deacon.
Surviving include, wife of 62 years, Shirley Wheeler Wood; daughter and son-in-law, Debbie W. and David Lee; son and daughter-in-law, Danny Wayne and Teresa Wood all of Benson; grandchildren, Dennis Medlin, Jeremy Medlin, Alex Wood and Sarah Wood; seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Josephine Parrish of Raleigh, Shirley Wheeler of Benson, Alice Johnson of Dunn and Karen Wood of Four Oaks; many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM Thursday at Rose and Graham Funeral Home in Benson.
