    William C. “Jimmy” Phillips

    After a long life well lived, surrounded by family and loved ones, Jimmy passed away peacefully at his home on December 29th 2017.
    Jimmy was born on July 17th, 1943 to the late William C. Phillips and Lila Lucas Phillips in Burlington, NC. Jimmy grew up in the Micro community and spent his adult life in Micro and Lewiston Woodville,NC,
    He was a graduate of Micro High School, attended Atlantic Christian College and the NC State College of Engineering. Jimmy retired from Eaton Corporation after 37 years. He was a member of Micro United Methodist Church and a former Sunday School Teacher.
    Jimmy loved farming, fishing, forestry, and hunting, especially hunting with his fox and deer hounds. He was a past member of Hickory Ridge Hunting Club and Woodville Gun Club. He was a founder of the Johnston County Houndsmen Club and Aldonia Farms, a farming and forestry concern. Jimmy was a member of the Town of Selma Planning Board and Board of Adjustment.
    In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother Joseph Phillips, brother in-law and sister in-law Marvin T. Dazey and Faye Dazey, and brothers in-law Bill Hancock and Edwin Royce Smith.
    He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Julia “Becky” Phillips; daughter Gara P. Craven and husband Chris of Mooresville, NC; son Jonathan S. Phillips and wife Mary Paige of Raleigh, NC; sister Gara Vann Hancock of Hillsborough, NC; grandchildren McKenna B. Craven, J. Cameron Craven, Jonathan S. Phillips Jr, Caroline D. Phillips, and William C. Phillips; brothers in-law and sisters in-law Bettie Smith, William and Vivian Caldwell, Kenneth and Barbara Smith, Eric and Susan Godwin, Annell Beasley, Teresa Foster and many nieces and nephews.
    A visitation will be held at Parrish Funeral Home in Selma, NC on Sunday December 31st from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm with a private service at a later date.
