    Deceased Date: 04/02/2021

William C. “Mann” Johnson, age 91, formerly of Raleigh, NC, passed away peacefully at home in Benson, N.C. on Thursday, April 1, 2021. Graveside Funeral Services will be held 1:00PM-Monday, April 5, 2021 at Roselawn Cemetery in Benson, NC. Rev. Randy Beasley will officiate.

Mr. Johnson was born in Johnston County on November 7, 1929 to Walter Mack and Daisy Mangum Johnson. Mr. Johnson was very proud of his military service, having served in the Korean War. He was a member of American Legion Banner Post 109 in Benson, NC. Continuing the family tradition, he worked as a Job Superintendent for both Commercial and Residential contractors in the Raleigh area, retiring from Holland Construction.

Mann had a zest for life like no other, known for wearing his white pants. He loved his family, loved to ride if just to get a cup of coffee and piece of pie, or to deliver Krispy Kreme donuts to show his appreciation. He loved going to the NC State Fair, yes, several times a day, every day. Mann was an avid water skier and taught family and friends how to ski. He loved music, especially beach music and oh how he loved to dance. He was so loved and will be missed by his family and friends. Dementia may have robbed him of his memory over the years but it did not take the twinkle from his eyes nor steal his contagious laugh and smile, his ability to hug, love and talk.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Johnson was also preceded in death by his wife, Sylvia “Sissy” Moore Johnson, son-in-law, Jason Outwarter, sisters, Jessie “Lady” Dixon, Effie Smith, Jewel Higgins, Gladys Turner; and brothers, Mack, Frank, Dan and Don Johnson.

He is survived by his daughter, Kelly R. Outwater and grandson, Noah Outwater of the home; sister and brother-in-law, Susie and Shorty McLamb of Indian Trail, NC, sister-in-law, Judy Johnson of Raleigh, NC and brother-in-law, Tommy Turner of Lake Wylie, SC; and many loving nieces and nephews.

There will be an open door closed casket visitation and you may sign the register book from 8:00AM-11:30AM on Monday, April 5, 2021 at Rose and Graham Funeral Home in Benson. The family will not be present during this time but will receive friends following the graveside service.

The family request in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Benson PFWB Church, 205 E. Hill Street, Benson, NC 27504 or to 3 HC Hospice, 821 N. Brightleaf Blvd, Smithfield, NC 27577.
