Officers Searching For Bank Robbery Suspect

SMITHFIELD – Law enforcement officers are searching for a lone suspect who robbed a Smithfield bank. The robbery was reported around 9:30am Monday at United Community Bank, located at 403 S. Brightleaf Boulevard.

The suspect presented a note to the teller and demanded money. The bank employee gave the suspect an undisclosed amount of cash. The suspect left the scene on foot. Camera footage from a nearby home revealed the suspect left the area in a silver passenger car with tinted windows and dark rims.

The suspect was wearing a blue and black Carolina Panthers toboggan, sunglasses, surgical mask, gray sport coat, blue button-down shirt, khaki pants, and gray Hey Dude style shoes.

No injuries were reported.

Anyone with information about the suspect or vehicle he was driving is asked to contact Detective D. R. Johnson at 919-934-2121 or Smithfield Crime Stoppers at 919-934-2661. A reward is offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect in this case.

  1. Can we please just ban mask wearing in banks and businesses at this point? It’s over, ridiculous and asking for this now.

    • YEP THAT IS THE ANSWER! If we ban masks in banks robbers will no longer go there to commit a crime as they will be unable to wear a mask. BAWAHAHAHA
