Husband Charged With Murder After Woman Fatally Shot At Smithfield Business
SMITHFIELD, N.C. — A 39 year-old man has been charged with first-degree murder after police said he fatally shot his wife Thursday morning outside the AAF Flanders manufacturing plant.
Officers were dispatched around 5 a.m. June 25 to the business at 2121 Wal-Pat Road following a report of a shooting.
When officers arrived, they found Lorena Capera Paz in the parking lot suffering from gunshot wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Smithfield Police detectives launched an investigation and, with the assistance of witnesses at the scene, identified Jesus Bermudez as the suspect.
According to investigators, Bermudez and Capera Paz were husband and wife.
Police said Bermudez was taken into custody around 9 a.m. at his residence on Galilee Road in Smithfield.
He was charged with one count of first-degree murder.
Bermudez was confined in the Johnston County Detention Center without bond pending his initial court appearance scheduled for June 26.
Police said the shooting appears to be an isolated domestic-related incident and emphasized there is no active threat to the community.
The investigation remains ongoing.

Thank you Smiffield Po-Po!!
This type of thing will never make sense to me. If you are sick of someone’s crap, LEAVE. If someone is cheating on you, LEAVE! People really need to understand you can not mess with someone’s emotions! People will kill you! I hope he never sees the light of day again!
I figured it was gonna be a Central American. They hire many of those females.
your comment seems to be a little irrelevant… not only “central americans” work there but I love how you judged the book by its cover! RIP to the victim & I hope this guy gets what he deserves.
You just had to say that didn’t you?
What did they nationality have to do with anything clown..
Domestic violence, the loss of a woman’s life! …and you make a stupid racist comment. Wow.
Why is it a racist comment?
Rachael, this isnt a racist comment! You need some education on what constitutes racism!
I call it as I see it also.
Most crimes I can call the identity before its released.
Not sure why you stated that bit of information, but if I was asked to guess the nationality, I would have said Latino, because, yes , that is mostly who works there. The truth doesn’t hurt my feelings at all.
Thank you. People act like you can’t say the truth. Cheap labor. The town and country have been overrun. I feel for the teenage son and family. I feel bad for the woman that was trying to go to work.
