Speed was a contributing factor in a fatal single car crash near Benson. The crash was discovered at 12:19am Sunday on Tarheel Road near Woodall Dairy Road.
A 2008 Mitsubishi passenger car was traveling on Tarheel Road when it ran off the roadway to the right, struck a dirt mound, then collided with a tree.

The driver, the only occupant in the vehicle, died at the scene. He was identified as Jesus Arturo-Sanchez, 29, of Faith Church Road, Four Oaks.
Troopers said speed played a factor in the crash. Arturo-Sanchez was wearing a seat belt.
