One Person Killed In Collision

PRINCETON – One person was killed and a second person seriously injured in a two vehicle accident Tuesday on Highway 70 at Old Rock Quarry Road in Princeton.  The accident was reported shortly after 6:30pm.

A SUV was traveling on Old Rock Quarry Road and attempting to cross Highway 70 but witnesses said the SUV driver only slowed but did not stop at the stop sign.  An eastbound passenger car struck the side of the SUV sending both vehicles off the roadway.

The driver of the SUV, the only occupant, 41 year-old Kirino Reyes Cruz, was pinned in the wreckage and died at the scene.  The driver of the car, Jaela Parks of Goldsboro, sustained serious but non-life threatening injuries and was transported to WakeMed.

Princeton Police said no charges would be filed.

Fourth Princeton Traffic Fatality Since March 4th
Tuesday’s wreck marked the fourth traffic death in Princeton in the last seven weeks. On March 10th, a driver was killed at the same intersection after failing to yield and pulled into the path of a westbound vehicle.  On March 4th, two people died in a crash on Highway 70 at Dr. Donnie H. Jones Boulevard. That accident was also caused by a vehicle turning onto Highway 70 and failing to yield.
