Pack-A-Police Car Event Collects School Supplies

CLAYTON – On Saturday, August 6, 2022, the Clayton Police Department conducted “Pack-A-Police Car” at Walmart on Highway 70 in Clayton.  The purpose of this event was to collect donations of school supplies from the public and deliver them to the various schools located in the Town of Clayton.

These schools included Clayton High School, Clayton Middle School, Riverwood Middle School, Riverwood Elementary, West Clayton Elementary, Cooper Academy, and Powhatan Elementary.  They also collected donations of school supplies at the Police Department up until Friday, August 12.

On Thursday, August 18, 2022, members of the Clayton Police Department traveled to each of the schools and delivered boxes of school supplies to faculty and staff.

Chief Greg Tart stated that the Police Department did not conduct this event last year due to COVID but it was important for us to bring this event back this year.  Tart said the department maintains great working relationships with each of our schools.  With the community’s support and generosity, this is a small way that police officers can hopefully help each of our schools get started to a successful school year.

  1. All right parents that have kids in any of these schools, these are the men and women that will ether give up thier life to protect your kids or us having a repeat of the Texas Uvalde School response? I am just saying, I would had expected more supporting comments?

  2. Why not donate the 200+ weapons collected at the recent gun buy-backs? We need to arm ALL school employees to defend our children. H*ll, we should probably arm the students as well. The only way to stop a bad person with a gun is by a good person with a gun!!
