Work has begun on a resurfacing and shoulder widening project along Dogeye Road between Highway 242 and Highway 50 in Benson.
The NC DOT project is starting with prep work for the shoulder widening, which involves the saw-cutting of driveways at the roadway.
The shoulder work will start on Thursday, July 27, to be followed by resurfacing Friday and Saturday. Final paving work is set for Monday, July 31, to be followed in the coming weeks by lane striping.
DOT officials encourage drivers who travel on Dogeye Road to use extra caution once the paving is done until the final striping is in place.
The work is weather conditional.
During the daytime work hours, lane closures will be required for the project, with flaggers in place, and a pilot car leading traffic in one direction of traffic through the work zone, and then the other.
Drivers should expect delays while the work is taking place and avoid the area if at all possible.
