Pedestrian Injured In Parking Lot Mishap
SMITHFIELD – A pedestrian sustained minor injuries Sunday afternoon following a mishap in the parking lot of the Brightleaf Flea Market, located at 2320 S. Brightleaf Boulevard.
According to the Smithfield Police Department, the incident occurred around 1:31 p.m. when a 2015 Chevrolet SUV was driving through the parking area. A pedestrian, who had been standing on the back of a utility trailer that was parked outside the travel lane, stepped off and into the path of the vehicle. The individual was struck by the driver-side rear tire of the SUV.
Johnston County EMS responded to the scene and treated the pedestrian for minor injuries. No transport to the hospital was required.
Police investigated the incident and determined that no charges would be filed.

Another reason to shut all the mess down along that stretch of highway!! … It’s a death trap on Sat. & Sundays going through there!
Absolutely agree to that! It’s disgusting when you’re trying to get through there to go to work or anything else.
