Firefighter Injured Battling The Blaze
MIDDLESEX – Firefighters discovered a body after extinguishing a house fire in northern Johnston County. The fire was reported at 10:46pm Tuesday at 456 Renfrow-Narron Road, off NC 39 North.
Antioch, Bethany, and North Side Fire Departments along with Johnston County EMS were dispatched to the scene. Firefighters found a working fire when they arrived.
Once the flames were extinguished, crews located one person deceased inside the home.
The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office, Johnston County Fire Marshal Division, and Johnston County Medical Examiner’s Office are jointly investigating. The name of the person found inside the home has not been released.
One firefighter was transported to the hospital due to an injury sustained while working to extinguish the blaze. They were treated and released overnight from the hospital.
