KENLY – A Ram pickup truck was struck by a Dodge Challenger at the intersection of Second Street and South College Avenue, Thursday afternoon. After the impact, the truck skidded across a yard, striking a recently renovated home and a parked pickup in the driveway.
The Challenger driver was transported to an area hospital. The Ram driver declined medical care.
“I did everything I could do to avoid going straight through the house,” said the unidentified driver of the pickup. The man said he turned the wheel as far to the left as possible and was able to slide into the side of the house rather than drive straight inside.
The truck, which his wife said had been paid off just last month, was heavily damaged.
The home was moved slightly off its foundation and deemed unsafe by the Johnston County Building Inspections Department.
Kenly Police investigated the accident.
