Planning Board Delays Decision On Selma Data Center

SELMA – The Selma Planning Board has delayed making a recommendation on a proposed 177,000-square-foot data center after members raised additional questions about the project’s site plan.

The Planning Board reviewed the proposed Project Volt data center Monday night but voted to table the matter until its November meeting.

Board members had additional questions concerning the site plan and wanted more information before making a recommendation.

The project is proposed on property along Noble Street near Eason Lane in Selma’s extraterritorial jurisdiction.

The Planning Board is considering both a conditional rezoning request and a special use permit for the project.

Any action by the Planning Board will be a recommendation to the Selma Town Council, which has final authority to approve or deny the requests.

Project Volt is the first specific data center proposal to come before Selma officials since the town adopted new regulations governing data centers earlier this month.

The Planning Board is expected to resume consideration of the proposal at its November meeting.
