Play It Again Sports Expands To Clayton

CLAYTON – Play It Again Sports®, the leading family sporting goods resale concept, has announced the grand opening of its location in Clayton located at 11639 US 70 Business. The brand provides athletes of every age a place to sell their quality used sports and fitness equipment including: football equipment, baseball gloves and bats, hockey gear, golf clubs, soccer gear, lacrosse equipment, treadmills, ellipticals, bikes, weights, and more.

A favorite among families, the new Play It Again Sports® in Clayton opens on Feb. 27 to buy, sell and trade quality used sports and fitness equipment. Local Owners
The new Play It Again Sports is owned by Hal Gaston and Laura Gaston and their longtime friend Mat Sawyer. Hal first opened Play It Again Sports in Cary, NC 33 years ago. When exploring business opportunities, Hal wanted a franchise that brought happiness and left an impact on the community. Through his years at Play It Again Sports, Hal has had the privilege of witnessing athletes’ journeys, from getting their first baseball mitt to buying a new bat for their college team. That sense of joy was exactly what Hal had envisioned in a business.

Along his journey as owner and operator of the Cary location, Hal met his wife, Laura, and brought Mat on as manager 21 years ago. With the success of Play It Again Sports Cary, the team decided it was time to open another location in the growing community of Clayton. Now, Mat is stepping up as a partner alongside Hal and Laura, leveraging his years of leadership to help make the new store a success.

Grand Opening Event Details
Beginning Feb. 27 and throughout the weekend, Play It Again Sports Clayton is inviting guests to stop into Play It Again Sports in Clayton to experience the following:

• Wednesday, Feb. 26 – Sunday, March 2: Over the weekend, there will be a front table where guests can enter to win a Warrior Hockey giveaway, a Diamond Baseball giveaway, and a Vizarri Soccer giveaway.
• Thursday, Feb. 27: The first 25 guests in line will receive a $25 gift card, and there will be complimentary snacks and drinks. Customers will receive a gift with purchase and customers who spend $75 or more will get a $10 bounce back coupon. A ribbon-cutting ceremony with the Chamber of Commerce will take place at 3 p.m., and there will be a drawing for a WOW item giveaway (Pro Form Spin Bike, Pro Form Treadmill, and three tickets and parking to a Carolina Hurricanes game).
• Friday, Feb. 28: Customers will receive a pair of Play It Again Sports sunglasses upon purchase and there will be a giveaway for a Pro Form Spin Bike.
• Saturday, March 1: Customers will receive a pair of Play It Again Sports sunglasses upon purchase, there will be refreshments from 10 a.m. – 8 p.m. Guests can participate in the Hockey Net Shots activity to win a price, and there will be a giveaway for a Pro Form Spin Bike.
• Sunday, March 2: Customers will receive double reward points on buys and sales. There will be a giveaway for a Pro Form Bike.

Play It Again Sports accepts new and quality used equipment from community members, allowing the gear to end up in someone else’s hands rather than a landfill.
