Smithfield Police have identified a body found Sunday afternoon outside the Johnston County Public Library at 305 E. Market Street. Police said the body of 42 year-old Bobby Ray Bailey of Benson was found behind a HVAC unit concealed by thick shrubbery.
Preliminary finds from an autopsy at the State Medical Examiner’s Office indicate Mr. Bailey’s death does not appear to be suspicious. The cause of death remains under investigation pending completion of toxicology reports.
Police did not say when Bailey may have died. Unconfirmed reports indicate he had been deceased for several days before being located.
