Police Investigate Shooting Of 21 Year-Old Woman

GARNER – Garner Police are investigating a shooting on Avery Street. Police responded to a call at 8:56pm Tuesday reporting a 21 year-old woman had been shot in the arm.

The victim was transported to the hospital by EMS with non-life threatening injuries. Investigators said the victim was not the intended target. No other injuries were reported.

After a preliminary investigation, Garner police learned that there were at least two suspects, and they left the scene in a burgundy Honda Accord. The shooter was described as a black male wearing all black clothing with medium-length hair. The second suspect who was driving the Honda could not be seen.

The Honda was later located in Raleigh and was processed by the City-County Bureau of Identification (CCBI) for evidence.

Police said the investigation is ongoing and the crime does not appear random.
