SELMA – A Florida woman was arrested and her child placed in the custody of the Johnston County Department of Social Services.

Around 2:00am Thursday, June 14, a Selma police officer on routine patrol located a Toyota pickup truck at the dead end of JR Road. Police found a woman with a small child across her lap. Both were asleep.

Police said they saw drug paraphernalia and hypodermic needles in plain sight.

Police awakened the woman, identified as Kahlua Minor, age 32, of Bradenton, Florida. During a search of the pickup, 44 grams of methamphetamine and 3 grams of marijuana were reportedly found.

Officers said they also located numerous needles, including two used needles with blood inside them, near where the child had been located.

Kahlua Minor was arrested and charged with methamphetamine trafficking and other related offenses.

Police transported the child to the Selma police station for evaluation by EMS. The child was then placed in the custody of the Department of Social Services. The age of the child was not released.

Minor held on a $100,000 secured bond at the Johnston County Jail.
