Police Officer Assaulted During Arrest, Report Says
SMITHFIELD – A Smithfield police officer was assaulted while arresting a suspect. Geoffrey Jamal Lee, age 33, was charged with assault on a government official.
Around 12:30am Sunday, July 30 officers were dispatched to a trespassing call at Plan B Sports Bar at 519 W. Market Street. Employees told police Lee refused to leave and was now asleep at the bar.
Police asked Lee to leave the premises but he reportedly refused. Lee, who was intoxicated, was escorted outside and handcuffed.
During the arrest, Lee allegedly tried to pull away from a female officer and kicked her twice in the lower leg.
Lee was held on a $10,000 secured bond at the Johnston County Jail.

assault on a LEO and all he gets is $10,000 bond. Hey Judge, just so you understand that is you assault a LEO then you will not think twice about hitting or worse on a civilian. Geoffrey Lee must have been a friend of yours. You need to retire and give the County a break. This guy has a long record so I can only assume he is a friend of yours.
