Police Pursuit Ends At Driver’s Home
WILSON’S MILLS – A 32 year-old man is facing several charges after he reportedly fled from law enforcement. Shortly after midnight January 22, Wilson’s Mills Police attempted to stop a Chevy S-10 pickup truck that was reportedly swerving as it traveled westbound on Highway 70 near Strickland Road.
Sgt. M.R. Peedin said, the driver refused to stop, turning south onto Strickland Road as officers pursued the vehicle. The suspect reached speeds of 60 miles per hour and drove into a ditch at the intersection of Swift Creek Road and Strickland Road. The vehicle reentered the highway and continued on Swift Creek Road before turning into a subdivision and stopping on Waber Court.
The driver, the only occupant, reportedly jumped and ran from the pickup. He was captured on the front porch of his Waber Court home.
Jose Roberto Alvarenga of Smithfield was charged with felony fleeing to elude arrest, driving while impaired, resisting a public officer, careless and reckless driving, and driving on a revoked license.
Alvarenga was held under a $25,000 bond at the Johnston County Jail. The S-10 pickup was seized under the NC Run & Done Law.
The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office assisted Wilson’s Mills Police.

I’ve said it many times before. Way too many driving on our roads that should not be.
