Police Searching For Pickup Connected To Hit And Run

SMITHFIELD – Smithfield Police have released surveillance images of a vehicle involved in a hit and run accident early-Sunday that left a pedestrian seriously injured.  Perry Blue Jr., 36, of Salisbury, NC was walking in the 300 block of Wilson’s Mills Road around 1:10am Sunday when he was struck by a pickup. The driver never stopped at the scene.

The accident went unreported for hours. Around 8:00am, Blue walked up to a nearby home seeking help.  Police said he was suffering from serious head and arm injuries and appeared disoriented due to his injuries.

Police located the accident scene and recovered vehicle parts and later video evidence. Police said the hit and run vehicle is a 2008 to 2013 Chevy Silverado or GMC Sierra pickup.  The truck is believed to be dark colored and likely an extended cab model. The pickup will have damage to the passenger side headlight housing, will be missing the front passenger side fender trim, and the passenger side mirror will be extensively damaged or missing.

The hit and run pickup was last seen headed northbound on Wilson’s Mills Road around 1:10am Sunday.
