SMITHFIELD – Smithfield Police said they seized a 9mm handgun and ammunition from a juvenile involved in a domestic dispute. On Dec. 26 around 4:26pm, officers responded to N. Brightleaf Boulevard near the Selma city limits.
Police said a woman and her juvenile son were in a vehicle and engaged in a verbal altercation. They stopped the car beside the roadway and called authorities.
During a routine search, the handgun was allegedly found in possession of the minor, identified as under the age of 18.
Police are still investigating the incident. No injuries were reported.
