Police: Sex Offender Located At Public Park
SMITHFIELD – A man on the NC Sex Offender Registry is behind bars after reportedly violating conditions of his release.
Karl Daquon Beaty of Caswell Street, Smithfield was arrested June 12 after Smithfield Police reportedly found him at Smith Collins Park. Beaty is not allowed to be in a public park.
Police said they did not see Beaty having any direct interaction with children when he was arrested but did receive reports he had been to Smith Collins Park prior to June 12.
Beaty was charged with being a sex offender on child premises and a sex offender residence violation. Both are felony offenses.
He was held under a $250,000 secured bond.
Beaty was convicted in 2022 for a 2020 offense in Johnston County of taking indecent liberties with a minor. The victim was 11 when the crime occurred.
He was sentenced to 16 months probation and ordered to remain on the NC Sex Offender Registry for 10 years.

Indecent liberties with a minor who was 11 years old and only got probation? He should’ve been sentenced to life in prison.

Obviously, he’s not following the rules after sexually assaulting and 11 year-old child. This man is disgusting and should be in jail not running the streets free. That 11-year-old girl now has to live with this the rest of her life, he should have life for that. More than likely, he will repeat his patterns, leopards spots don’t change.
