Police Charge 17-Year-Old In Fatal Brightleaf Boulevard Shooting
SMITHFIELD, N.C. – A 17-year-old has been charged with first-degree murder following a fatal shooting Wednesday afternoon on South Brightleaf Boulevard.
Smithfield Police said detectives took the juvenile suspect into custody at approximately 11:50 p.m. Wednesday.
Police were dispatched at approximately 5:30 p.m. to the 2100 block of South Brightleaf Boulevard, near Wal-Pat Road, for a reported shooting.
Officers arrived and found a victim suffering from gunshot wounds. Responding officers began life-saving measures, but the victim died at the scene.
Police said the shooting appeared to be an isolated incident and that those involved knew one another.
The juvenile was taken to the Wake County Juvenile Detention Center, where he was being held without bond pending a court appearance.
The victim’s name had not been released.
The investigation remains ongoing.

Why was he taken to Wake County??
Johnston county does not have a juvenile detention center.
There is not a juvenile detention center in Johnston County.
Whatever happened to fist fights? My god! Maybe it’s the GenX in me, but back in the day if you had an issue with someone you met up & threw hands, not bullets. You might get ya butt kicked but you LIVED!

Please hush 🤫 that boy was 200 something pounds and my nephew was 100 pounds and he followed my nephew to the store he threaten to shoot my nephew face off first . So yeah move around

Call 911, file charges, do something civil to stop the abuse but killing somebody is never the solution
You ever heard the saying saying the big old they are the harder they fall guns is never the answer now your nephew will spend the rest of his life probably in prison

Juvenile?Report the parents of the “juvenile”. People have a right to know if other “juveniles“ from these parents are living next-door to them.
Might as well have stated “Kay Drive”. That gives clarity to location and situation.

The “juveniles” and their families obviously have never watched local or even national news. The fact that they think that they will get away with it apparently never comes to mind. Or maybe they think that the minimal punishment they get is okay?
He will be tried as an adult and placed in prison when he’s 18
I knew both of the young men well and this was a real tragedy.. Im praying for both families because both of these families lost a son. They really do need to just close Johnston Court slam down!!! Its not the apartments I feel like its the management and the people there. Not all of them just some of them.. The crime rate us at a all time high out there and its getting worse every single day.
Typical…, blame a location or object for the decisions and actions of a human being. Personal responsibility is what’s missing in society. Until that occurs, blaming a location, inanimate object, police, media etc nothing will change.

Charge the parent (s) with contributing to the delinquency of a minor. They failed at raising their child.
