Police: Store Employee Stole Cash, Lottery Tickets

SMITHFIELD – Smithfield police arrested a former convenience store employee Jan. 2 after an investigation reportedly linked her to the theft of cash and lottery tickets.
The case began when management at the 3G Mart on Stancil Street in West Smithfield contacted police to report missing money and lottery tickets. Investigators said $200 in cash was taken from a register, along with approximately 40 lottery tickets valued at an additional $400.
Police identified the suspect as Amber Consuela Norris, 39, of Smithfield, who was working at the store at the time of the alleged theft.
According to police, Norris reportedly denied taking the items when questioned. Police said she later admitted to the theft after being informed the incident had been recorded on the store’s surveillance system.
Norris was charged with felony larceny by an employee and taken into custody the same day.
She was booked into the Johnston County Detention Center, where she was held under a $20,000 secured bond.
