Ex-Clayton High Coach Charged With Assault, Stalking

CLAYTON — A former Clayton High School basketball coach has been charged with assault after allegedly chasing and attacking a woman, WRAL reports.
Kenneth Collins, 30, who coached the boys’ varsity basketball team and had been employed at Clayton High since August 2024, is accused of chasing the woman down the street and into a bowling alley on Dec. 20, according to Wake Forest police. Warrants state that Collins wrapped his arm around her neck and choked her at one point. He was reportedly in a relationship with the victim at the time of the alleged incident.
Johnston County Public Schools confirmed that Collins, who served as a non-faculty coach, is no longer employed by the school system.
Collins is out of jail on a $6,000 bond and also faces misdemeanor charges of stalking and domestic violence, WRAL reports.

WOW! Just wow! This is another reason our judicial system is terrible. He actually chocked her and stalked her!!!! The magistrate let him bond out with only a $6,000 🤬🤬 And he’s out walking around free while she’s terrified! Yea, that’s justice….NOT!! This is why domestic abuse victims live in fear. It doesn’t matter what the perpetrators do, they go free! Wonder what the judge will think if this woman gets hurt really bad???
The judge will look all stupid and say, “Gee, maybe I shoulda kept him in the jail..” DUH!!!!!!! Ya think?? I am SO tired of criminals and offenders getting the “benefit of the doubt”… Screw them! Innocent until proven guilty my rear end!!! When someone is OBVIOUSLY hurt or in fear, that innocent until proven guilty crap needs to go out the window…. PERIOD. No bail, no nothing… If the guy wasn’t such an idiot, he would n’t have his *** in the jail house. Screw him!! Leave him in there!!
Judges’ hands are tied to an extent. The legislature makes the laws, then cobbles together a roadmap with numerous factors for the judicial system to refer to. This is a misdemeanor charge. The suspect may never have been arrested before. No weapon was involved. A judge cant pluck a bail amount out of the air, just as he or she is restricted in sentencing. Rest assured judges aren’t making it up as they go along. You will be grateful for those guidelines if you ever get in trouble.
I understand what you are saying, I do. It still does not negate the fact that he is more than likely going to go and try this again. Hate to be a “negative Nelly” but, if history has taught us anything, idiots like this will run with it as long as they can. Maybe it is time for a “system” change. If these idiots, who probably know the limits of how long they can continue being idiots and stay out of jail, knew they didn’t stand a chance, they would quit the dumb stuff, and people would feel safer. How about we start looking at doing that???
Strangulation in nc is a felony!! Just google it. But they didnt charge him as such
So you were there. You know the history. You think you know the whole story huh?
Then post use your real name and lets see what happens.
and you wonder why women are arming their selves…..this is the reason. Our Law Enforcement Officers are doing their jobs….It’s some of these judges and magistrates that set bond at ridiculously low rates…the perps get right back out and sometimes finish the job by killing an innocent woman because she tried to stand up to him and do it the right way…..
In the past 20 years there is a crazy number of abusive, sexually-harassing /-assaulting and even pedophiles (later convicted) out here in our teaching and coaching ranks!! Just wow!
Until judges can be held for criminal negligence by letting these savages walk, nothing will ever change.
Someone should have blown a whistle. That’s the only sound coaches hear.
