Johnston County Report Photo by John Payne

SELMA, N.C. — A delivery truck caught a low-hanging communications line on West Street in Selma Friday, pulling down overhead wires and causing a power outage.

With temperatures soaring, the Town of Selma opened the Richard B. Harrison Gymnasium on West Noble Street as a cooling location for residents affected by the outage.

Power was restored to all 46 affected customers a few hours later.

No injuries were reported.
