PRINCETON – The Princeton Volunteer Fire Department has acquired land for the department’s second fire station, Station 2, in the Rains Crossroads area of their coverage district. The addition of a second fire station in Princeton will significantly improve the level of fire and EMS service throughout the community by decreasing response time in this rapidly growing area.

“We are thrilled to begin construction on our second fire station,” said Fire Chief Adam Stanley. “This new station will build on a history of extraordinary fire and emergency medical services in Princeton, while also showing our commitment to providing excellent services as our community continues to grow.”

The department hopes to have a temporary two bay structure in place to begin service by July 2024, with plans for a larger, permanent building to be drawn up for completion by 2028.

Princeton Fire will compile a project team of professionals who will oversee the design and construction of the new permanent facility.

Station 2 will house a state of the art 2023 Pierce 1500-gallon pumper/tanker apparatus which was delivered last week. Along with this engine a smaller pickup truck unit will be placed there for EMS and utility type responses.
Chief Stanley said this is a significant step forward that will prepare the department for the future increase in new neighborhoods, highway expansion projects, and residents needing assistance.

The department thanked the citizens of Princeton, Boon Hill, and the Johnston County Board of Commissioners for supporting the project.

  1. Oh boy, a new building for them to wash the trucks twice a week in front of, what an awesome use of funds! The new fire station will look stunning next to our THREE dollar stores. This will be vital in assuring the 2 fires a year in Princeton will be put out in style. Next year we can strive for the goal of getting our firemen in Louis Vuitton fire suits.

    • This is not replacing the current station. This is a new station out in the county. Thanks for your support!

  2. Thanks for the support. This is not replacing our current station but a new station to help residents in the northern part of the district.
