Princeton Unveils New Entrance Signs

PRINCETON — The Town of Princeton has installed two new entrance signs after receiving a $45,000 grant through a partnership with the N.C. Department of Commerce and East Carolina University (ECU).

Town officials held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Oct. 31 with representatives from the Department of Commerce, ECU, town staff and members of the Board of Commissioners.

Mayor Stacy Johnson said the project highlights the value of collaboration.

“These new entrance signs are a testament to what we can achieve through strong partnerships,” Johnson said. “By working with the N.C. Department of Commerce and East Carolina University to secure funding, we have created a lasting landmark that reflects the spirit and pride of Princeton. It is a great day for our town.”

The signs are intended to serve as a welcoming landmark for residents and visitors.

  1. Very nice, big improvement over the old signs BUT can you “secure funding” to fix the broken and collapsed pavement on Center Street between Railroad Ave. and the railroad track? And please contact the DOT to trim the vegetation overgrowth extending into the travel lane on Barden St. north of Dr. Donnie H. Jones Blvd. Things like that also have an impact on visitors to the town, as well as residents.

    • BUT just means forget everything I said positive and listen to my negativity.
How about just celebrating the improvements and wait patiently for the repairs to take place. I’m sure the folks in charge have a long list of repairs in that town. It’s been ignored for a long time.

      • But the grants came from government money maybe stop all grants then the people of Princeton can pay for their own signs with money they saved o taxed and everybody else could spend their tax saving on what ever they want
