CLAYTON – A two car rear-end accident was reported late-Saturday afternoon on NC 42 East at Castleberry Road. Because of the large number of people in the two vehicles, an SUV and a mini-van, numerous EMS units responded.
Upon arrival, Northside Fire found a large traffic backup with traffic stopped in the eastbound lanes. First responders established an alternative path for traffic and kept vehicles moving for the next 45 minutes while EMS attended to the injured.
All of the 9 occupants of the two cars were checked out by EMS workers but none were transported to the hospital.
The North Carolina State Highway Patrol investigated the accident.
