Rep. Larry Strickland Re-Appointed House Appropriations Committee Chairman

RALEIGH- House Committee assignments for the 2023-2024 session were announced Tuesday as the General Assembly will return to work next week. Speaker Tim Moore, who was responsible for appointment decisions, “It is my honor to reappoint Chairman (Larry) Strickland, I know his experience and passion for the citizens he serves will help keep North Carolina on the right path.

Rep. Larry Strickland has been appointed to serve on the following committees:

– Appropriations (Chair)
– Appropriations, Agriculture and Natural and Economic Resources (Vice-Chair)
– Agriculture
– Commerce
– Education K-12
– Energy and Public Utilities

“I am honored that Speaker Moore has reappointed me to serve as co-chair of the House Appropriations Committee. I am proud of the continued trust that has been placed with me because of a proven track of responsible and disciplined spending.” Said Rep. Strickland, “I look forward to continuing the good work we’ve done in North Carolina to strengthen our economy, meet the needs of our citizens, and secure a bright future for our state.”

Committees will meet at the direction of the committee chairs to discuss legislation that is relevant to the specific policy area. Members of the committee will be able to debate bills heard in the committee, propose changes to the bill’s language, and vote on whether the bill should advance.

  1. Appropriations also known as pork-barrel spending. Under the last 9 years, spending has increased 29% and the size of state government has increased by 17%. When will the fiscal conservative GOP of my youth return?
