Report: Birthday Cake Shoplifter Assaults Employee

CLEVELAND – An employee at Walmart was assaulted by a shoplifting suspect, according to the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies were summoned to Walmart, at 5141 NC Highway 42 West in the Cleveland community, around 1:30pm Saturday.

A loss prevention employee reportedly told deputies a woman in the self checkout failed to scan several items, including a $20 birthday cake. While attempting to exit the store, the loss prevention employee asked the woman for a receipt, which reportedly showed several items in her cart had not scanned.

The suspect allegedly began yelling, then grabbed the employee’s hand causing the victim to fall. The suspect left the business with the birthday cake. The other items not paid for were left behind.

Deputies are following up on leads and working to identify the suspect wanted for shoplifting and assault.

        • Are you able to tell me how someone stealing a birthday cake and assaulting someone has anything to do with one particular political party? Where in the article is any political party mentioned?

  1. Was this Walmart built on top of on old Indian burial ground? The most ridiculous nonsense seems to be concentrated at this one store. Walmart must have got that land for a steal…..(see what I did there? Lol)
