SMITHFIELD – A former clerk at a Smithfield convenience store is facing a felony charges. Esperanza Natalia Rivera, age 23, of W. Edgerton Street, Smithfield was arrested Dec. 9 by Smithfield Police.
According to a report, Rivera was a clerk at the Speedway at 1016 N. Brightleaf Boulevard. On several occasions in October and November, Rivera would allegedly ring up a transaction. After the customer left, she would reportedly void the transaction then keep the money.
Altogether, $215.71 in cash was stolen from the Speedway.
Rivera was charged with felony larceny by an employee. She was taken before a magistrate and booked into then Johnston County Detention Center under a $10,000 secured bond.
$10,000 bond for this. However my man fired shots during a road rage incident only got $1500. Gotta love the judicial system
I am wondering if either one has prior records. That is the only thing that would make sense.
She committed a felony. His was a misdemeanor. That is the difference in the bond.
And I understand that as well. However a felony for stealing a little bit of money. And a misdemeanor for firing shots. Something doesn’t sound right here. That money won’t going to kill anyone. However that bullet could.
Wow, was stealing a couple hundred dollars worth what you are fixing to go thru? Good luck getting a reference MORON!
215$ is a felony? Maybe the whole system is racist or something. Never seen bossman go to jail for 215$ worth of wage theft
