Report: Deputy Assaulted During Traffic Stop
FOUR OAKS – A Johnston County deputy sheriff sustained minor injuries during a traffic stop. Around 9:25pm Monday, a patrol deputy conducted a traffic stop on a suspicious vehicle on NC Highway 210 near Lassiter Road.
During the traffic stop, a Glock handgun was reportedly found. The driver fled on foot. When deputies caught him he allegedly resisted arrest. One of the two deputies involved in the arrest reported minor injuries while detaining the suspect.
Taruez Marquest Everette, 27, of W. Market Street, Smithfield was charged with possession of a firearm by a felon, felony assault causing physical injury on a law enforcement officer, and two counts of resisting arrest. Everette was incarcerated in lieu of a $70,000 secured bond.

Glad they got this guy and the gun off the streets. A felon with a gun spell out one thing, TROUBLE! Great job JCSO and I hope the Deputy recovers fast. We need a man like that back on patrol. As for the Judge, thank you for giving a high bond.
