Report: Driver Fought With Officer, Ran Away From Traffic Stop

SELMA – The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man a short time after authorities said he fled on foot from a traffic stop.

London Tierrie Richardson of Thorne Road, Selma is facing numerous charges.

Around 4:54am Saturday, April 5, a patrol deputy was approaching the four-way stop intersection of NC 39 and Old Beulah Road when he witnessed a SUV travel through the intersection at high speed without stopping.

The officer conducted a traffic stop a short distance away. Richardson reportedly became combative and fought with the deputy. As they fell to the ground, during the struggle, Richardson was able to break free and flee on foot.

Following an extensive search, the 35 year-old man was reportedly found hiding inside a vehicle parked at his nearby Thorne Road home.

A stolen pistol and suspected cocaine were located and seized.

Richardson was held under a $100,000 secured bond charged with failure to stop at a stop sign, exceeding the posted speed limit, open container of alcohol, resisting a public officer, assault causing physical injury on a law enforcement officer, assault on a government officials, possession of a stolen firearm, and felony possession of cocaine.

  1. Wonder what will happen to him at trial after the weak ADAs try to reduce the charges with the Deputy that was assaulted

  2. This guy needs to go by by for a long time. He could have killed someone running thru the stop sign and not to mention being combative to a LEO. Remember, if you fight with a LEO, he will fight with anyone and do as much damage as he could. Where the h*ll did the respect for LEO’s go? I hope the judge takes this trash out to the dumpster. Richardson, you are TRASH!

  3. Thanks for the support of the Law Enforcement Officer. It’s not every day that they get the praise that they deserve. The DA’s in this case should make an example out of this joker so that he won’t be laughing anymore.
