Retired Fire Captain Honored By Smithfield Town Leaders

SMITHFIELD – After more than 20 years of service, Bentley Powell retired recently as a Captain with the Smithfield Fire Department.

Captain Powell was honored on April 27 with a retirement celebration at the Smithfield Fire Department. On May 2, the Smithfield Town Council and Mayor Andy Moore honored him during the monthly town council meeting.

Mayor Moore presented Mr. Powell a proclamation from the Town thanking him for his dedication and service to the Smithfield and surrounding communities.

Powell will continue to serve in the fire service in Johnston County. He is also the chief of the Wilson’s Mills Fire Department and plans to devote more time to that role.
