Johnston County Commissioners have agreed to rezone 5 acres of land at 13382 Cleveland Road from Industrial to Agricultural Residential.
The property had been zoned for contractors offices but the offices no longer exists. The new owner of the property, Lana Lewis, requested the land be rezoned to agricultural so they might be able to build a home on the site in the future. The 5 acres is part of a 7 acre tract. The other 2 acres were also zoned agriculture. A neighbor spoke in favor of the request, which was approved unanimously.
Commissioners approved a second rezoning case for 5.75 acres out of a 31.2 acre parcel of land at 11260 Covered Bridge Road in the Wilders Township.
Ned Coleman requested the land be rezoning from Agricultural Residential to General Business so he can sell landscaping and nursery supplies, feed and seed, and operate a farmers market type store on the site.
No one spoke in opposition of the request at a Nov. 6th public hearing but Planning Director Barry Grey said one email was received from a citizen expressing concern about a cemetery located across the street from the property.
Commissioners unanimously approved the rezoning. Several conditions were placed on the property including requirements for buffers and restrictions on signage.
