The Clayton Chamber of Commerce has selected Jessica Merrall as our Super Star Teacher of the Month. Super Star teachers demonstrate excellence and leadership in their classroom, creativity and motivation of their students and show a high level of commitment to our community.
Merrall is the fourth grade teacher and team leader and serves on the School Improvement Team at River Dell Elementary.
She sets high expectations for all of her students and has confidence in them. She instills trust in them to reach their goals. Ms Merrall never stops teaching, according to the Clayton Chamber. “Doesn’t matter if its class time or party time….she has been known to even teaches measurement and division during her class pizza parties,” according to a chamber press release.
“Ms Merrall helps students guide themselves through their lessons. They are allowed to work through problems and mistakes; ask their classmates questions; and are empowered to be active learners. Ms Merrall’s classroom is always open to other teachers and parents for events such as Read Across America. She is a true leader at River Dell Elementary.”
