Ruth Ray Sworn In To Selma Town Council

SELMA, N.C. – Newly appointed Selma Town Council member Ruth Ray was officially sworn into office Sept. 8.

Town Clerk Dalton Larsen-Batten administered the Oath of Office during the council meeting.

Ray was appointed to the board Sept. 3 to fill the unexpired term of former Council Member Susan Parrish Watson, who resigned in August.

The 79-year-old lifelong Selma resident previously worked full time for the Town of Selma for 17 years and has also served on the Selma Planning Board.

Ray currently serves as assistant pastor at Christ Fellowship Church in Selma.

Council Member William Overby also resigned in August. As of Sept. 10, Overby’s seat had not yet been filled.
