WILSON’S MILLS – A project to upgrade U.S. 70 to interstate standards in Wilson’s Mills requires access to a side road to be permanently disconnected.
The intersection of Sadisco Road and U.S. 70 will permanently close at noon, Friday Dec. 9. Afterward, drivers will continue to use U.S. 70 Business to access Sadisco Road.
The closure will not affect travel on U.S. 70, and, for now, the median opening at the junction of U.S. 70 and Sadisco Road will remain open in case drivers need to make a U-turn.
A contractor for the N.C. Department of Transportation is upgrading this section of U.S. 70 to include constructing interchanges with bridges and ramps at Swift Creek Road and Wilson’s Mills Road. Construction began in 2021 and is scheduled to be completed in late 2024.
