Two days after winning $100,000 on a scratch-off ticket, Rachel Broadwater of Wilson says she’s “still in shock.”
Broadwater’s win came Saturday when she tried her luck with a $20 ticket in the $150 Million Cash Explosion game she purchased at the H Mart on Forest Hills Road in Wilson.
Broadwater and her husband claimed the prize today (Monday) at lottery headquarters in Raleigh and she said they had not decided what to do with the prize money. After required state and federal tax withholdings, she took home $70,756.
The $150 Million Cash Explosion game started in October 2018 with four $4 million prizes, six $1 million prizes, and 10 $100,000 prizes. Two $4 million prizes, three $1 million prizes, and four $100,000 prizes remain to be won.
Ticket sales from scratch-off games help the lottery raise more than $700 million a year for education.
