SBI, Selma Police Investigate Shooting

Selma Shooting 2The NC SBI has been called to assist Selma Police investigate a shooting. Gunfire rang out around 9:40 am Monday in the 300 block of East Noble Street, just off US301.

Police and EMS crews arrived to find a man suffering from gunshot wounds. He was rushed to Wake Medical Center where he underwent emergency surgery and was listed in critical condition. 

Police Chief R.A. Cooper said the victim was shot while near a silver Chevy Camaro parked in the roadway.  The suspect apparently fled on foot afterwards.  Police canvassed the area looking for the suspect, but he managed to elude immediate apprehension.

Chief Cooper said the shooting does not appear to be random and that the victim and suspect had been involved in an ongoing dispute.  The name of the victim and suspect were not released.
