SMITHFIELD – At the request of Johnston County Public Schools (JCPS), West Smithfield Elementary School is now part of the Smithfield city limits.
On May 6, the town council voted unanimously to annex the 27.7 acre school campus at 2665 Galilee Road.
No one spoke in opposition to the annexation request during a public hearing.
Now that the school is within the city limits, the Smithfield Police Department will provide a school resource officer at the elementary school.
School resource officer….. AT AN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL!!!! There’s your sign folks. Get your kids out of public school.
The SROs are there for bad behaving parents, and active shooter situations for the students and teachers safety. Did you see the mugshots last week? Three different incidents where parents were arrested at schools during awards days and stuff. Thats not counting the ones that had to be escorted out or asked to leave……
You are spot on. Parents are the problem. They should be active and willing to help in the school and classroom when available instead of fighting, arguing and trying to make excuses for their children who misbehave or fail to do any work.
