School Board Approves Personnel Changes, Contract Extensions

SMITHFIELD — The Johnston County Board of Education approved several central office personnel recommendations from Superintendent Dr. David Pearce during its October meeting.

Among the actions, Marlon Watson was approved as Chief Operations Officer under a four-year contract.

Weston Hockaday was approved as Construction and Capital Projects Officer.

The board also approved one-year contract extensions for eight central administrators, extending their contracts from July 1, 2029 through June 30, 2030.

Those receiving extensions were Stephen Britt, Chief Finance Officer; Kendrick Byrd, Assistant Superintendent of School Performance; Richard Carr, Chief of Communications and Family Engagement; Linda Edmundson, Chief of Human Resources; Ashley Radford, Chief Academic Officer; William Weaver, Chief of Student Services; Leigh White, Assistant Superintendent of School Performance; and Patty Whittington, Associate Superintendent of School Performance.
