Second Johnston County Convenience Store Robbed

CLAYTON – For the second time this week, a Johnston County convenience store has been robbed. Around 9:40pm Wednesday, Clayton Police were dispatched to Han-Dee Hugo’s, at 11295 US Highway 70 Business, for an armed robbery.

A male suspect entered the business and produced a handgun. The suspect demanded money from the register while holding the clerk at gunpoint. The suspect ran south from the store toward Amelia Church Road.

At 11:58pm Sunday, the Scotchman Store at 12320 NC Highway 210, near Interstate 40, was robbed by an unknown suspect. The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office is investigating that holdup.

It is unknown if the two robberies are connected. No injuries were reported in either incident.
