SELMA – The front of a Downtown Selma building collapsed Saturday afternoon. It happened shortly after 4:00pm in the 100 block of S. Raiford Street.
Selma Police Chief W.M. Thomas said there was at least one eyewitness to the collapse. No injuries were reported.
The Selma and Pine Level Fire Departments responded and stood by while the cleanup took place. Town of Selma crews used a backhoe to clear bricks, wood, and other debris from the roadway and sidewalk.
One side of the building was reportedly used for storage while the other side was vacant. Officials have not said what caused the collapse.
