Following two public hearings, county commissioners unanimously approved requests for two self storage facilities.
On June 5th, Benton Dewar appearing on behalf of Reedy Creek Firm, LLC of Angier requested permission to expand an existing mini storage facility on Lassiter Road at Highway 210 near Four Oaks onto an additional one acre tract being purchased from Denton Lee.
Dewar said the current facility has 110 units. With the expansion 65 more units can be added. He said the new units would have the same appearance as the existing ones.
In a separate request, Manning Homes, Inc. of Garner received approved to rezone three tracts of land totaling 5.41 acres on Church Road near the intersection of Highway 50 at McGee’s Crossroads.
The county rezoned the same property in 2008 for a self storage facility but the rezoning expired after the owner failed to record special use permit for the property after several years.
David Manning with Manning Homes said the units would go up in phases. He plans to begin work on the property soon. The exact number of storage units planned for the site was not disclosed.
